The story where it all began

Considered one of the oldest pointing dogs of the Iberian Peninsula, with a history reaching back to the Middle Ages. It was once common across Spain and was accepted by the Real Sociedad Canina when that society was founded in 1911, but numbers fell to near extinction by the 1970s before breeders began a recovery.12

    Some Pachón Navarros are born with a split (bifid) nose, a feature shared with Turkey's Tarsus Çatalburun.1

    Breed enthusiasts keep a stud book and have run working trials, including the Memorial Manuel Contera series, since at least 2008.3
