A short, thick, smooth coat of medium texture, finer on the head, ears and legs, over a strong, solidly built body.1

Personality what they are like

A sturdy, well-balanced and unhurried dog with a kind, noble look. It is docile, clever and predictable, and gets on well with children.12

A hunting dog made for work in open country; it needs a lot of outdoor exercise and suits rural life better than a city flat.12

The short smooth coat needs only occasional brushing.1

The story where it all began

One of Spain's old pointing breeds, it developed on the Castilian plateau around Burgos and dates back to at least the 16th century. It probably arose from crosses between the Sabueso Español and the Pachón Navarro and may have contributed to other pointer breeds.2

    It works on both feathered and furred game, pointing and retrieving birds as well as hares and rabbits.1
