A soft, silky coat that can be gently wavy, fluffy or curly depending on which parent it favours. It sheds very little.231

Personality what they are like

A bright, bouncy and loving little dog that sticks close to its family. It is confident and playful, enjoys training games, and tends to announce visitors with a bark or two.231

Daily activity how busy a day looks

Moderate. About 30 minutes to an hour a day of walks and play; many enjoy agility or obedience training.132

Grooming and care the hands-on bits

Brush daily or at least two to three times a week and plan a trim every 6-8 weeks. Clean ears weekly, trim nails every few weeks and brush teeth a few times a week.321

Home where they are happiest

Fits well into flats and smaller homes as long as it gets outdoor walks. Prefers a home where it is not left alone for long.12

The story where it all began

The Yorkipoo is a US designer cross of the last few decades, made by pairing a Yorkshire Terrier with a Toy or Miniature Poodle. Breeders wanted a small, low-shedding companion. The Yorkie side goes back to terriers brought to Yorkshire by Scottish workers in the 1800s.31
