The story where it all began
The Yorkipoo is a US designer cross of the last few decades, made by pairing a Yorkshire Terrier with a Toy or Miniature Poodle. Breeders wanted a small, low-shedding companion. The Yorkie side goes back to terriers brought to Yorkshire by Scottish workers in the 1800s.31

Owner questions the things everyone asks
How often should I feed my Yorkipoo, and at what times?
Feed your Yorkipoo at least two meals a day for adults, and three to four smaller meals for puppies. Stick to set times each day, and always follow the food label and your vet's advice on amounts.35
What should a Yorkipoo eat, and which foods are dangerous?
Offer a good-quality food suited to your Yorkipoo's age, size and activity level. Avoid dangerous foods like chocolate, grapes, raisins, xylitol, onions, garlic, and macadamia nuts, as these are especially risky for dogs.36
How often should I bathe a Yorkipoo?
Furry Diary's starting plan suggests a bath every 8 weeks, and general guidance says at least once every three months. Bathe more often if your Yorkipoo gets very dirty or has skin issues, but always use a dog-safe shampoo.7 Furry Diary plan
How often does a Yorkipoo need brushing?
Brush your Yorkipoo daily or at least two to three times a week to keep its soft, silky coat free of tangles. Furry Diary's starting plan recommends brushing weekly, but more frequent brushing is even better for this low-shedding breed.3217 Furry Diary plan
How do I trim a Yorkipoo's nails, and how often?
Trim your Yorkipoo's nails every few weeks, or sooner if you hear them clicking on the floor. Cut a little at a time, stopping before the quick (the pink part), and use a proper dog nail trimmer.3217 Furry Diary plan
How much exercise does a Yorkipoo need?
Your Yorkipoo needs about 30 minutes to an hour of walks and play each day. Many enjoy agility or obedience training, and daily exercise keeps them happy and healthy.132 Furry Diary plan
How do I look after a Yorkipoo's teeth and ears?
Brush your Yorkipoo's teeth a few times a week (daily is ideal) using dog toothpaste only. Check ears weekly and clean gently without pushing anything into the ear canal; ask your vet for the best cleaning method.3217 Furry Diary plan
How long does a Yorkipoo live?
A Yorkipoo typically lives between 10 and 15 years. With good care, regular vet checkups and a loving home, many enjoy a long, happy life.23
Is a Yorkipoo good with children and other pets?
Yes, Yorkipoos are usually good with older, gentle children and are friendly with other dogs. Many also live happily with cats, but always supervise early interactions.231
Can a Yorkipoo be left alone?
Yorkipoos are very people-oriented and prefer not to be left alone for long periods. If you must leave them, start with short absences and provide toys, but it's best to have someone around most of the time.12
