Owner questions the things everyone asks

How often should I feed my Serbian Tricolour Hound, and at what times?

Feed your Serbian Tricolour Hound at least two meals a day, ideally at the same times each morning and evening. Puppies need three to four smaller meals. For exact amounts, check the food label and ask your vet.4

What should a Serbian Tricolour Hound eat, and which foods are dangerous?

A high-quality dog food suited to their age and activity level is best. Dangerous foods include chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, xylitol, and macadamia nuts. Always avoid these and consult your vet for a complete list.5

How often should I bathe a Serbian Tricolour Hound?

Furry Diary's starting plan suggests a bath every 8 weeks, and general guidance says at least once every three months. Bathe more often if they get very dirty or have skin issues, but avoid overbathing to keep their coat healthy.6 Furry Diary plan

How often does a Serbian Tricolour Hound need brushing?

A weekly brushing is perfect for their short, thick coat. This removes loose hair and keeps the coat shiny. Furry Diary's plan also recommends weekly brushing.36 Furry Diary plan

How do I trim a Serbian Tricolour Hound's nails, and how often?

Trim nails about every 4 weeks, or sooner if you hear clicking on the floor. Cut a little at a time, stopping before the quick (the pink part). If you're unsure, ask your vet or a groomer for a demonstration.6 Furry Diary plan

How much exercise does a Serbian Tricolour Hound need?

This breed has high energy and needs plenty of daily exercise, including long walks and active play. They were bred for long hunts, so a tired hound is a happy hound. Furry Diary's plan recommends daily walks and play.2 Furry Diary plan

How do I look after a Serbian Tricolour Hound's teeth and ears?

Brush their teeth two to three times a week with dog-safe toothpaste. Check their floppy ears weekly for moisture or dirt, and dry them gently. Never push anything into the ear canal.6 Furry Diary plan

How long does a Serbian Tricolour Hound live?

Lifespan varies for each dog. Ask your vet or a reputable breeder for an estimate based on the dog's lineage and health.

Is a Serbian Tricolour Hound good with children and other pets?

Yes, they are loyal and kind, forming close bonds with their family. They traditionally hunt in packs, so they usually get along well with other dogs. Supervise around small pets due to their hunting instinct.32

Can a Serbian Tricolour Hound be left alone?

They bond strongly with their owners and may not enjoy long periods alone. Provide plenty of exercise and mental stimulation before leaving them. If left too long, they could become bored or anxious.32
