Coat and looks how to spot one
short, smooth
A short, fine, smooth coat that is often soft and glossy. Puggles usually have the Pug's wrinkled brow, black mask and curly tail, with a longer muzzle, longer legs and the Beagle's longer ears.321
Personality what they are like
An affectionate, outgoing clown that loves its family and greets new people warmly. Puggles are playful, full of energy and usually get on with children and other dogs. They are very food-driven, which helps with reward-based training.12
Daily activity how busy a day looks
Fairly high: around an hour a day of walks, games, hikes or dog-park play, plus daily mental challenges.21
Grooming and care the hands-on bits
Easy coat care: brush weekly with a medium-bristle brush or rubber mitt and bathe as needed. Wipe any facial wrinkles and check ears regularly. Sheds seasonally and a little year-round.12
Home where they are happiest
Adapts to most homes, including smaller ones, as long as daily exercise and company are provided.12
Food basics what goes in the bowl
A complete food with calories kept in check, since Puggles love to eat. Adults usually have two meals a day, puppies three.1
Company who they like around
Needs daily companionship along with physical and mental enrichment. Loves both people and other dogs.1
