The story where it all began

The breed grew out of the mid-19th-century Bâtard Anglo-Saintongeois, made by crossing the old Saintongeois hound with English Foxhounds. French hound breeds were renamed in 1957, when it took the Grand Anglo-Français name. It remains primarily a working pack hound in France.12
